Navigating an Organizational Maze Without Slowing a Key Recruitment
Navigating a maze can be intimidating. Especially when the puzzle is to utilize your organization’s newly implemented policies and multi-country support structure to achieve a recruitment goal. This was a portion of the challenge brought to us by the international headquarters of one of our long-standing clients, a multinational oil and gas company.
The hiring manager required a regional security leadership position in the United Kingdom, but their talent acquisition team was entirely new and had no bench strength in security recruitment. They reached out to SMR for assistance and we quickly identified additional hurdles that needed to be cleared before the project could kickoff.
Entire key functions had been relocated to different affiliates in challenging time zones outside our client’s home country. And a new talent management software system had just been implemented with most of their internal team not yet fully trained in navigating its use.
Given the complexities of the underpinnings, SMR took a team approach to the project across our own regions and was able to deal with the set-up challenges in real time. Additionally, we were very familiar with the TMS having utilized it with other clients, so were able to assist with the technical components.
SMR had previously advised our client during a restructuring of their security organization and had assisted with crafting their security job descriptions. We were very familiar with their roles and responsibilities. We knew exactly what they wanted for the new role of Regional Head of Security and that meant our recruiter was able to present a slate of well-qualified candidates from five countries almost immediately.
Initial candidate calls were quickly set up and the mechanics of interviewing and selecting a final candidate were expedited. We stayed in close touch with both our client and the new Regional Security Manager over the extended three-month garden leave period to ensure a smooth, successful hire.
Navigating the challenges our multinational clients bring us are second nature to us, so we were ready to go the moment the project launched. We often have customers whose functional operations are in disparate locations and it was rewarding to achieve success for our client while building strong relationships in new regions.
