A Multinational Partnership in Latin America
A Multinational Partnership in Latin America
Multinational clients can be some of the most exciting to work with, especially those with whom we have long term relationships. We get exceptional insight into these organizations as we work on their security recruitment projects around the world. This unique understanding serves to expedite searches as we can hit the ground running on day one.
SMR recently completed a project in Latin America for just such a client. Their brand is well-known as a leader in manufacturing with operations in many countries. Their underlying products are deliberately ethically sourced and have high asset value, and we had previously partnered with them on projects in the Americas and EMEA regions.
In this case they were seeking a Country Security Director who would have a keen understanding of the unique physical security and supply chain challenges in the region. They also wanted someone with substantial business acumen who could work effectively with regional and global management teams.
They identified the role as a key strategic placement, so top internal leaders and stakeholders involved at the start included the CEO, Head of Global Security and VP of Human Resources. SMR worked with them to develop a job description that addressed each of their requirements and concerns and identified the skills and competencies required for success in the role.
We reached out through our extensive LATAM network seeking someone who had relevant regional knowledge together with the influencing skills needed to align the security risk program and partner with diverse management teams. While the position was based in Mexico City, the company’s business language was English. We sought someone who was fully bilingual and who had international experience.
Our client identified SMR’s ability to perform due diligence relative to candidate reputations and track records in the region as a strong benefit. This was a key assist as we quickly sourced a strong candidate pool, and interviews began shortly after project launch.
The short list presented a difficult decision as there were two top candidates, each of whom would do well. Ultimately, the successful candidate was perfectly suited to the role. He had previously worked internationally and in targeted high-risk organizations.
It is a pleasure for us to work with clients with whom we have a long-term relationship. In addition to quickly solving their recruitment challenges, we value the ability to stay in touch and know the end of each recruitment story. In this case – as expected – this Security Director continues to excel in the role, and we are looking forward to our next opportunity to partner with this great client.
