Senior Security and Safety Manager

Summary / Overview

The Senior Security and Safety Manager is a high-impact site leadership role responsible for building, stabilizing, and elevating security and safety operations in a newly launched facility. This leader will own physical security, safety programs, and emergency preparedness in a fast-moving environment where quick, confident decisions and strong influencing skills are essential to protecting people, products, and the continuity of operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site’s security and safety strategy, with primary ownership of physical security operations, incident prevention, and a strong culture of workplace safety.
• Manage the outsourced guarding company and other security vendors to ensure effective coverage, professionalism, and adherence to site standards and contractual expectations.
• Conduct ongoing security assessments, audits, and risk reviews to identify vulnerabilities such as product diversion, theft, and control gaps, then drive decisive corrective actions.
• Oversee safety compliance programs, inspections, and committee activity, including OSHA-related recordkeeping, hazard reduction, and collaboration with HR, Risk, and compliance partners.
• Direct incident investigations for security events, accidents, and near-misses; document findings thoroughly and implement practical measures to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and drills, while serving as a key liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services for coordinated response when needed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, public safety, emergency management, business, or a related field.
• Advanced degree and/or training, or professional certification in physical security, investigations, safety, or emergency management are a plus.

Experience

• Considerable experience leading physical security and resiliency programs in logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or similarly fast-paced operational environments.
• Strong background in oversight of contract labor or outsourced guarding teams, including responsibility for program performance, budgets, and vendor relationships.
