Senior Executive Protection Agents
Senior Executive Protection Agents
Summary / Overview
Two prestigious global organizations, each a leader in its respective industry, have retained SMR Group to identify accomplished Senior Executive Protection Agents for high-impact corporate roles.
These are high-visibility opportunities for seasoned executive protection professionals who thrive at the intersection of discreet close protection, protective intelligence, and executive partnership. The roles serve as tactical security partners to the CEO, C-suite, and select senior leaders within major private-sector organizations. Full-spectrum protection responsibilities span corporate offices, residences, business travel, public engagements, and other dynamic environments. Each position offers the opportunity to join a close-knit, highly professional team where sound judgment, operational excellence, composure, and service are as important as tactical capability.
Ideal candidates are polished, mature executive protection professionals with substantial corporate experience, rather than professionals making their first transition from public service. Candidates should bring a demonstrated record of protecting senior corporate leaders and collaborating effectively with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external security partners. Although these are hands-on individual contributor roles, SMR’s clients expect successful hires to be capable of assuming broader leadership and management responsibilities as needed.
Candidates may live anywhere in the United States, provided they live within approximately one (1) hour of a major commercial airport. Extensive domestic and international travel, often 50% or more and sometimes on short notice, is an essential component of each role. Exceptional compensation and comprehensive benefits packages reflect the scope, travel demands, and importance of these positions.
Responsibilities
- Provide discreet, protective operational coverage for the CEO, C-suite, and designated senior leaders during travel, corporate activities, events, and other elevated-risk situations.
- Plan and execute protective advances for domestic and international travel, business meetings, executive events, public engagements, and other principal movements.
- Assess protective intelligence from open-source, travel, geopolitical, business, and threat-related information to identify emerging risks and shape operational decisions.
- Develop and manage detailed operational plans, including routes, transportation, aviation coordination, hotels, venues, access procedures, emergency response, and contingency arrangements.
- Coordinate seamlessly with internal security partners, corporate stakeholders, executive assistants, drivers, law enforcement, contract security providers, and other external vendors.
- Strengthen the executive protection program through thorough documentation, post-operation feedback, vendor oversight, knowledge sharing, and mentorship of colleagues when appropriate.
Requirements, Skills & Competencies
- University degree in a relevant discipline, together with a sustained commitment to professional growth through continuing education and ongoing awareness of evolving security, safety, and intelligence trends.
- At least 15 years of progressive protective-security experience, including at least 10 years of hands-on executive protection work within a sophisticated corporate or private-sector environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in close protection, protective advances, executive travel security, protective intelligence, venue and hotel assessments, secure transportation, and contingency planning.
- Excellent judgment, emotional intelligence, communication skills, executive presence, and discretion, with the ability to establish trust at every level of the organization.
- Proven ability to remain physically capable, calm, decisive, collaborative, and service-oriented in fast-changing or high-pressure environments. Candidates must bring a low-ego, team-first approach; an overly knowledgeable approach will not fit these programs.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills are required; additional language capability is strongly preferred.
- U.S. citizenship and a valid U.S. passport are required, along with the ability to travel extensively on short notice and comply with restrictions on outside executive- or personal-protection employment that could create a conflict of interest.
